The House System
Relationship Building, Service, Ministry to School Population, Student Leadership. The House System originated in England as the English school system was being developed and was used for the purposes of providing an environment where students are afforded “pastoral care” or individualized education (Dierenfield, 1975). Originally, the houses were literally that: a place where students lived as they were boarded in school (The Latin School, 2015).
All students entering 7th through 12th grade at Legacy Christian Academy will be sorted into houses. Each house has students from each grade represented.
In addition to the CSU and UC A-G requirements, Legacy graduates must complete a minimum of 262 units to receive their Honors Diploma which includes an additional year of Foreign Language, Science, and History. A College Preparatory Diploma is also offered for Legacy graduates who complete the CSU and UC A-G requirements with a minimum of 227 units. Both diplomas require an internship in a field of interest, a minimum of one course on concurrent enrollment at Bakersfield College, a course in Biblical Finance, and complete a Bible course for every semester in attendance. All students participate on or off campus in community service and in a servant leadership role.
